MOBI export in Calligra Author
Here is a short update on the work towards Calligra Author 2.6, to be released in December.
Last week Calligra Author got support for export to MOBI, the eBook format used in the Amazon Kindle (and nothing else). This is mostly the result of work of Mojtaba Shahi Senobari with some assistance from me.
This work was not as simple as the EPUB export because the MOBI format is undocumented. It also uses some tricky compression scheme that we had to implement.
This means that 3 of the 5 target features of Author 2.6 are now done, leaving annotations and distraction free writing mode as yet unfinished.
MOBI export will also be available in Calligra Words.

Spectacular progress so far. This is the most interesting new piece of free software I've seen in quite a few years.
Well done!
Ingwa, that's great news! As an author, and proud LinuxChix!, who is also self-publishing, I'm following Calligra's progress closely.
I really appreciate the efforts put in to produce MOBI files. They are used by readers who also side-load to their Kindles, so the format is an important one for self-pubbers to provide. I say this because Amazon also accepts EPUB files when uploading to their publishing platform.
A lot of self-pubbers use the Mobipocket Creator software (alas, only available on Win) to produce PRC, which can then be re-badged to MOBI. Bingo!, two "formats" for the price of one. I'm so happy to see that I don't have to use Win to produce these formats in the future.
Congrats to you and Mojtaba.
Tack sin trevliga och hjälpsamma blogg, jag gillar det och jag tycker att det är mycket bra och intressant, hålla upp det,
